Make neighbourhood-scale solar microgrids simple, affordable and powerful for New Zealand communities. We believe every neighbourhood deserves energy independence, storm resilience, and the economic benefits of shared solar generation.
Our Story
ZOLR was founded in Auckland in 2026 to solve a critical challenge facing New Zealand communities: how to achieve energy independence while maintaining grid reliability and affordability.
We saw neighbourhoods struggling with rising electricity costs, vulnerable to storm-related outages, and unable to access the full benefits of solar at scale. Traditional grid infrastructure wasn’t designed for distributed generation, and individual rooftop systems couldn’t deliver the resilience communities needed.
Our solution is simple: we offer two proven microgrid options - a Full Microgrid with complete islanding capability for maximum resilience, or a Virtual Microgrid via MTR for smart, lower-cost energy sharing. Both combine rooftop solar, shared battery storage, and intelligent software to deliver zero-net-energy performance, storm resilience, and shared cost savings for New Zealand neighbourhoods.
